Call for Projects (2023) by Safe.Brussels.
Safe.Brussels, the organization of the Brussels-Capital Region responsible for security and prevention, has recently launched its new call for projects for the year 2023. This initiative is part of the Global Security and Prevention Plan (GSPP) approved by the regional government in January 2021 and valid until 2024. This plan sets the regional priorities in the areas of security and prevention, providing a strategic reference framework for all stakeholders in the sector in Brussels.
With a budget of 550,000 euros, Safe.Brussels aims to support non-profit organizations (NGOs) active in the field of prevention and security. The call for projects specifically targets measures from the GSPP 2021-24 that require broader coverage by the associative sector. Project proposals must comply with one of the eligible measures listed in the call.
The eligible measures cover a wide range of topics, such as the physical and psychological integrity of individuals, prevention of polarization and radicalization, drug and addiction management, combating human trafficking, road safety, management of incivilities and the environment, as well as the prevention of cybercrime and crisis management.
Projects should be designed as "a series of actions to be carried out over a limited period of time, with given resources, to achieve a specific goal within the framework of a specific mission." They must also comply with the definition set forth by Safe.Brussels to be evaluated and selected.
The Brussels Capital Region encourages collaboration of all stakeholders to promote comprehensive and integrated urban security, from prevention to response. Partnerships between traditional security actors and prevention actors are seen as a means to improve the enforcement of public order and promote trust and mutual respect between the police and citizens.
Interested organizations should submit their applications according to the conditions and practical modalities described in the call. Selected projects will receive funding and will be evaluated at the end of 2023. Successful laureates will be invited to apply for the renewal of their project(s) with the same funding in 2024 to complete the subsidization cycle under the GSPP 2021-24.
Safe.Brussels is committed to working closely with organizations to implement specific measures from the GSPP 2021-24 and strengthen security in the Brussels-Capital Region.
