The Manneken-Pis supports the clean.brussels urban cleanliness strategy on World Cleanliness Day 2023!
In the run-up to World and Citizens' Clean-up Day 2023, Brussels is gearing up for an exceptional mobilisation in favour of urban cleanliness. On 16 September 2023, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the citizens of Brussels will join in this worldwide movement to clean up the streets in a number of emblematic locations in several municipalities and to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving our environment.
This year, World Environment Day takes on a special meaning for Brussels, as the Manneken-Pis, one of the city's most famous symbols, prepares to support this vital cause. On Wednesday 13 September, the Manneken-Pis will don its street-sweeping uniform, bearing not only the logo of the City of Brussels, but also that of the clean.brussels regional urban cleanliness strategy.
This symbolic gesture demonstrates the commitment of the cleaning teams of the City of Brussels and the municipalities to the clean.brussels regional urban cleaning strategy.
The clean.brussels strategy is an ambitious initiative, bringing together the Region, the Brussels-Capital regional cleanliness agency, the municipalities and many other players involved in keeping public spaces clean. The aim is to bring together all the forces involved in order to improve the cleanliness of the Brussels-Capital Region in the long term.
