The #1030 CleanUp Challenge
Starting from April 1st, two teams led by Brussels-based influencers will compete in a cleanliness and beautification campaign in the municipality of Schaerbeek.
The municipality will be divided into different zones that must be conquered by accumulating as many points as possible, individually and collectively, by completing challenges related to cleanliness and beautification of public spaces, or by collecting the most waste possible during five events that bring together all participants in the game. The most active participants will receive rewards such as school excursions, vouchers, free activities, electric scooters, etc. To register, simply download the "1030CleanUpChallenge" mobile application. The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness and inform citizens in a fun and participatory way about the challenges of cleanliness, particularly young people. This campaign is the first of its kind in Belgium to encourage citizens to actively participate in cleanliness issues through a digital game application designed for all age groups. The campaign will end on May 13th with a big celebration at Josaphat Park to celebrate the winning team and award prizes to the winners and citizens who have made the most efforts to improve the living environment of their municipality.
This initiative reinforces measure 42 of the clean.brussels plan: “Cleanliness ambassadors are appointed in collaboration with the municipalities to raise awareness among Brussels citizens and mobilise them for voluntary cleaning actions : Creating a network of cleanliness ambassadors in the Brussels-Capital Region, in collaboration with the Brussels municipalities, in order to support volunteer waste collection actions, mainly for the purpose of raising awareness among fellow-citizens”, and measure 38 : “Communicating about positive cleanliness practices on social media, especially for young people and newcomers, by involving influencers”.
